6 December 1962 Miss Berta Hamilton Director Office of Special Services Livingston College Salisbury, North Carolina Dear Miss Hamilton, I write on behalf of the student body of Haverford College to invite three men from Livingston to visit Haverford early next year while we would send three men to Livingston. I suggest this program be carried out in conjunction with a similar arrangement wich I understand has been undertaken by our neighbor college, Bryn Mawr. Miss Judy Detusch of to Bryn Mawr student government tells me plans are being made for the exchange to take place during the period from 6 to 10 February. Such dates would be agreeable to us if they meet with your approval. We would expect the three men who come to Haverford to be travel- ing with the women who will be going to Bryn Mawr. So, too, would our Haverford "delegation" to Livingston doubtless travel with the Bryn Mawr women. Travel expenses would be borne by each of us individually. There would be no charge for your students’ room and board at Haverford; we would hope such would be the case for our students at Livingston. I hope that we might have your approval for these suggestions so that we can go ahead in making more detailed plans. I will have a Haverford catalogue and descriptive literature about our college sent to you immediately. I would be grateful if you would send me (as soon as possible) any material you might have about Livingston. As soon as I hear from you I will proceed with the business of setting up a schedule of the exchange and of selecting our representatives. Hopeful that the exchange will materialize and be as profitable as we at Haverford-Bryn Mawr anticipate, I remain, Sincerely, THE STUDENTS’ COUNCIL John D. Margolis For The Council
